Neuse River Bridge Run

New Bern, NC

March 11, 2017. Race across bridges and along our fast, flat courses. The Half & 10K are running the full span of the 65-foot high Neuse River Bridge this year! All three are USATF-certified routes. http://www.bridgerun.org/

The Neuse River Bridge Run is held in 300-year-old historic downtown New Bern, offering magnificent views of the Neuse and Trent Rivers. There's plenty to do in and around town; spend some family time touring downtown New Bern, visit Tryon Palace, paddle on the river or try one of our delicious eateries. Course distances include a half-marathon, 10K or 5K race. Participants who wish to walk may choose the 5K route only. 

All courses are  USATF certified and runners are chip-timed.  

Race Start Times:

7:00 a.m. - Half-marathon 
7:30 a.m. - 10K 
8:15 a.m. - 5K 
*Please arrive at East Front Street start line no later than 7:45 a.m. if you are running the 5K. 

Race day registration and pre-registration packet pickup will close at 6:30 a.m.  

EXCITING PARTNERSHIP WITH THE NEUSE-PAMLICO SOUND WOMEN'S COALITION:
We are delighted to announce that the Neuse-Pamlico Sound Women’s Coalition will be hosting their 2nd annual Walk/Run for Sickle Cell in conjunction with the Neuse River Bridge Run on March 11, 2017.  The March for Sickle Cell will be a “Race within a Race,” starting & finishing with the Bridge Run 5K runners & walkers and following the same route.  We look forward to celebrating those who are living with Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) and helping the NPSWC promote their plan to assist those who cannot afford treatment, transportation or the expenses of the other daily challenges that accompany the daily battle with this disease.


We look forward to a strong partnership with the NPSWC March for Sickle Cell for the March Neuse River Bridge Run. For more information about our partnership & to support or register for the March for Sickle Cell, click HERE.  If you participated in the 2016 NPSWC 5K and were planning to do so again this year but are registered for the Bridge Run, we can transfer your registration so that you can support the NPSWC once again! Please allow ample time for parking and walking to the start line.

TIMING  The Bridge Run has selected Precision Race to ensure the most accurate and fastest reporting of racers' time through the use of 4 Jaguar systems from Innovative Timing System. A disposable BIBTAG is attached to the rear of the race bib. This tag must not be folded in order to operate properly. The race bib must be worn by the runner/walker on his or her front, 

TEAMS  of 10 or more participants will receive a $5 discount. Team captains must establish the team name by emailing ann@gameonnc.com prior to registering team members in order to receive the discount.

EARLY PACKET PICK-UP  Early packet pick-up is available and encouraged on Friday, March 10th, 2017 from 4-8 p.m. at the New Bern Riverfront Convention Center (203 S. Front Street) in downtown New Bern.  SuperKids' Fun Run also has early packet pick-up on Thursday from 4pm until 6 pm at the New Bern Riverfront Convention Center. 

EXPO  Publix will be hosting a “Be Active, Be Healthy” Expo on Friday in conjunction with Packet Pick-up on-site registration. The expo continues on race day as well.

RACE COURSE  The half-marathon, 10K, and 5K races are USATF certified point-to-point footraces.  On Saturday, March 10th, 2017 the starting time for the half-marathon is 7 a.m., the 10K starts at 7:30 a.m., and the 5K will start at 8:15 a.m.  All race routes must be cleared by 11:00 a.m. due to Department of Transportation regulations.

PARKING  Free parking will be available in and around downtown New Bern. Parking is NOT AVAILABLE at the New Bern Riverfront Convention Center.  NO PARKING AT UNION POINT PARK. Please allow ample time to walk to the New Bern Riverfront Convention Center.

BAGGAGE AREA  A baggage check area is available inside the New Bern Riverfront Convention Center for race participants. Items will be stored for the race duration but should be picked up and dropped off from the same location. The Neuse River Bridge Run and its affiliates are not responsible for lost, stolen or damaged items. 

RUN ACROSS THE FINISH LINES  Move swiftly through the finish chute. DO NOT STOP! Continue through the chute for immediate refreshments and water. Follow the Race to the Ultra path to reach the post-race celebration inside and on the waterfront of the New Bern Convention Center.

AWARDS  All runners must be chip-timed to be eligible for an award. Awards will be given to the top 3 overall 5K, 10K, and half-marathon male and female finishers, along with the top 3 male and female in the following age categories: 14 & Under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, and 70+. Award ceremony will begin inside the New Bern Riverfront Convention Center at approximately 10 a.m. Awards cannot be mailed. 

SUPERKIDS FUN RUN  This event will take place in Union Point Park on Friday, March 10th, 2017 at approximately 6:00 p.m. and is open to kids 10 and under. A first place girl and boy finisher will be recognized at the awards ceremony after the race in four age groups: 3-4; 5-6; 7-8; and 9-10. The awards ceremony is at the SuperKids' Fun Run finish line. All participants will receive a medal at the SuperKids Fun Run finish line in Union Point Park. Children must be registered to participate and should report to the start area in the center of Union Point Park 10 minutes prior to their start time. Entry fee is $15 per child and includes a t-shirt (while supplies last if not pre-registered by February 20), medal and runners’ celebration entry.

RUNNERS’ CELEBRATION  All runners, paid-in-advance guests, SuperKids Fun Run and volunteers are invited to celebrate the runners’ accomplishments Saturday at the New Bern Riverfront Convention Center. A live performance from Bryan Mayer, delicious goodies from Publix, Michelob Ultra, Coca-Cola, water, and chocolate milk will be provided and lots of celebration.

SPECIAL SAFETY CONDITIONS  1> No babyjoggers, pets or inline skates will be permitted.  2> Wheelchair participants and hand-cyclists are permitted, but please contact us at the time of registration for necessary accommodations. These participants must report to the starting line 10 minutes prior to stated start times for an early start.  3> A shuttle will pick up remaining participants on the courses at 11:00 a.m. to insure participant safety.   4> Traffic will be stopped only for brief periods. Runners/walkers must be aware of moving traffic at all times. City streets will not be officially closed.  5> No children under 10 years old are permitted to participate in the Half Marathon or 10K nor under 8 years old for the 5K. Please check out the SuperKids' Fun Run for your children under 8 and 10 years of age.
